Championing Change: Elmrep raising awareness and shining a light for Sunflowers Suicide Support

After hearing about the important work that local charity Sunflowers Suicide Support provide within our community, the Elmrep team chose to participate in the Gloucester 10k run in June organised by Gloucester Quays Rotary Club.

Sunflowers is a valuable organisation that offers support to individuals bereaved and affected by suicide in Gloucestershire. Their suicide liaison service provides both practical and emotional support to those in need.

Additionally, Sunflowers plays a crucial role by offering suicide intervention training, which can help educate individuals on how to recognize warning signs and intervene effectively to prevent suicide. By supporting Sunflowers and participating in the 10k run, the Elmrep team contributed to the important work of this charity and raising awareness about suicide prevention and support.

The efforts of Jake, Tim, Sophie, and Chloe from Tayntons Solicitors in completing the 10k run despite the challenging conditions and raising £375 for Sunflowers are commendable. The Sunshine Boxes provided by Sunflowers as part of their Liaison work are a wonderful initiative to help individuals cope with their loss and honor the memory of their loved ones.

Such initiatives not only help raise funds for Sunflowers but also provide an opportunity to bring attention to the issue of suicide and mental health within the community.

And we aren’t going to stop there as we are committed to making a difference…

Some of the team have made a daring decision to participate in the Sunflowers Firewalk event on Friday the 13th of October, where we will be joined by our Regional Sales Manager Joe Hughes from Sharp, Cass Stephens Insurance Brokers, Kirby & Knott Wealth Management, Walls Clubs and many more. Firewalking is a unique and intense experience that requires courage and determination.

By taking part in this Firewalk, the team is not only raising funds for Sunflowers but also symbolically demonstrating their support for those facing emotional challenges, particularly in relation to suicide. It can serve as a powerful metaphor for overcoming fear and stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
